Football Nails

Happy Sunday! Here are my football nails for the start of the football season. For the white detail, I used a small dotting tool, white acrylic paint and clear top coat.

Zoya Nova under black crackle

This turned out so much better than I expected. This is two coats of Zoya Nova topped with China Glaze Black Mesh. One week later and this hasn't even chipped!

Baby shower nails

I had a baby shower to go to do I thought I'd do nails to match. Pictured is Essie's Borrowed and Blue accented with simple 3D nail art stickers.

Nail transfers

I bought these nail wraps on eBay. To apply these, you dip them in water and slide them off and then seal it with a top coat. It was really difficult to figure out, but I think I finally got the hang of it. Will post better pictures soon!

Nude Nails Continued...

Still not tired of wearing Zoya Cho, but I wanted a different accent finger. Pictured is three coats of Zoya Nova. I used nail guards for the accent on my thumb. As for the toes, I just used 3D nail stickers and a sharpie for the dots. How simple is that?! Tip: I wouldn't go over with top coat more than once. The sharpie started to smear when I did this.

Nude Nails

Nude nails using Zoya Cho.

For my accent finger, I used scotch tape to create the zig zag design. Unfortunately, I was impatient and didn't wait for the polish to dry, so it doesn't look at crisp as I had wanted. Make sure you rip the tape off BEFORE the polish dries. If not, the color will smear...as you can see. :-/

Zoya Zuza Vaca Nails

Happy 4th of July! While on vacation, I did a mani/pedi with Zoya Zuza accented with large gold hex glitter sprinkled on my accent finger. If only I had packed an orange stick so the glitter could have been evenly distributed. Oh well!

Matte black with silver foil tips

I thought this was a nice classic look-matte black nail polish with silver foil tips. Here's my first attempt. The black polish was too thick, so after applying the matte top coat on top, the polish got bubbly and took forever to dry. For the tips, I used nail guards for the pointed tip effect.

Weekend Nails 6/17/12

Inspired by pictures on Pinterest, I did hot pink nail striping on my daughter and a Zoya Kelly manicure/pedicure on myself using the striping tape on my index and big toe as an accent.

I also wanted to try the cuticle cleaning technique using a brush to make it look flawless but it was a lot harder than I expected. I must not be using the right brush because I used 100% acetone. Oh well, practice makes perfect. :-)

Nail Foil Wraps

This weekend I wanted to try Nail Foil Wraps. I found this cute cheetah/leopard print foil on eBay. The package had 16 tips which was enough for both myself and my daughter and some leftover. I thought these were nail wraps that were actually nail polish that you stick on but these turned out to be more like stickers. It was kind of a pain in the butt to put these on because you have to cut them to fix your nail exactly because I don't think it was meant for you to file them down. Nonetheless, I think they look pretty unique. :-) hopefully I get the full 11 day wear like it claims!

UPDATE: Okay these turned out to be one hot mess. Only after one day, these were already starting to peel plus they kept snagging on everything! After three miserable days, I ripped them off and it turns out, they damaged my natural nails. Never again!!!

Gradient Manicure

This was my first attempt at gradient nails. Pictured below is what I used in the order that I applied it. The method I used was a combination of applying the coats shorter and shorter as I get to the top of the nail + the makeup sponge technique topped off with three different glitter sizes. The last picture shown is what my nails look like after one week-no chipping whatsoever! :-)

Zoya Trixie + Mash plate #10

I must say, this was the most frustrating manicure ever. I was very impatient b/c it was 10pm on a Sunday night and I didn't want to go to work with "naked" nails. That being said, after trimming and filing my nails, I didn't have time to buff and smooth out the surface so the final look is extremely bumpy. On top of that, I tried to do an accent ring finger but with the foil polish, you couldn't even tell. The next day, I decided to cover up the flaws with Mash plate #10.

Zoya Polish with Stamping

I'm trying to use more Non-toxic polishes. For this manicure, I used:

Base Coat by No Miss (purchased from whole foods)

Zoya Malia-only 1 coat but I think next time I should use two

Top Coat-No Miss

Mash plate #4 with white Konad polish

Another layer of Top Coat-this time using Konad's top coat

DIY Nail Polish Rack

Finally finished my DIY Nail Polish rack to make room for all of my Zoya polishes. I think I'm going to need another one! :-)

Thanks fellow you-tuber for the inspiration.

Materials used:

3 black foam boards
Paper cutter
Hot glue gun
Printed duct tape
8.5 by 11 sheets of zebra print paper

Directions:

1 foam board will be the backboard
Cut the 2nd board into even horizontal strips for the shelves
Glue them to the backboard
Cut the 3rd board vertically the same size as the shelves and glue them to the side
Next cut the same number of smaller horizontal strips that will be decorated with duct tape-this will stop the polishes from falling off
Glue all around the edges to secure the shelves
Lastly, I printed the same design on printer paper and slipped them in the shelf spaces.
I hope this helps!

Bling on my newspaper nails

I tend to overdo everything...here's a picture of some bling I added to my newspaper nails.

Newspaper Nails

Here are some pictures of my newspaper nail art. I experimented with a number of solutions to transfer the ink, and ended up going with Windex of all things! Here are some items I tried in the order of preference:

Almond Extract-this worked really well but I opted for the cheaper alternative

70% rubbing alcohol-this would have been my third choice

Lemon Extract-this was not bad

Soju-which is a Korean liquor-results were about the same as the lemon extract

Perfume-this was okay

Vinegar-did not work very well

On top of experiencing with solutions, I tried printing a mirrored image from an inkjet printer so the design would not be backwards but that didn't transfer very well. :-(
